Yoga is about learning to come back to yourself. It’s finding your limits, expanding your boundaries, and being able to truly relax into who you are. According to yoga philosophy, health is the balance and core functioning of all physical, mental, and energy systems within our body. Asana (yoga postures) were conceived in ancient times to promote holistic health by stimulating and balancing the internal body systems and maintaining homeostasis.
Having a regular practice develops awareness of your body’s habitual holding patterns and over time your body will start to undo less-than-perfect posture. Your weak areas will grow stronger, and your tight areas will develop more flexibility. Overall vitality and energy levels will improve, and help develop strength, stamina, and coordination. As you start to unwind your body and mind you will be able to drop into relaxation more easily, restoring balance and mental clarity within. Yoga is an all-round life enhancer and open to every one of us.
This practice guides you through a mindful slow sequence of postures designed to gently lengthen muscles, ease tension and bring a deeper sense of body and mind awareness. The gentle meditative pace of this practice invites you to tune into your breath whilst taking time to be present within the pose and connecting to the subtle energy that flows with it.
The first part of this practice is a gentle vinyasa flow uniting breath and movement to help release any stress or tension the body may be holding, whilst building strength and flexibility. The second part is a more passive practice which focuses on deeper relaxation with postures held for longer to restore and repair our whole system.
Create space for more self-care in this nourishing practice. Expect to hold poses for longer periods as we work into the deep connective tissue, targeting key areas where we tend to store tension, helping to reduce stress and soothe the nervous system. Yin Yoga is a slow paced style of yoga that is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses we are opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely.
Yin yoga is a passive style of yoga that emphasises holding gentle postures for extended periods, targeting the deep connective tissues and stimulating the body's meridians. Sound therapy employs sound vibrations to promote relaxation and overall wellness.
Yin and sound sessions combine elements of sound therapy, using Tibetan singing bowls and chimes to create a more immersive and restorative experience. The soothing sounds help practitioners relax more deeply into the poses, enhancing the meditative aspects of yin yoga. The practice concludes with a relaxing sound bath.
